Chai infused pears bathed in spice. Is this the perfect
Chai Tea Recipe?
These golden syrupy pears spiced with chai, so simple to make but elegant and flavoursome, are an ideal dessert treat when made with in-season pears fresh from the market.
A word of caution to the uninitiated – be sure to use
pure chai for this Chai Tea Recipe. Sadly some of the biggest chai sellers, when compared with real chai tea, are much like consuming a cup of sugar with a touch of spice in it. Once you’ve tasted the difference of the real thing, there’s no looking back.
So what is real Chai Tea?
Real chai tea originates from India, the land of spice. It combines quality black tea with spices that are blended with milk and sweetened to create a mouth filling tea with a uniquely satisfying flavour. As a nice bonus chai tea is not without its health benefits, which makes a chai tea recipe even more attractive.
The health benefits of Chai Tea
Chai Tea’s leaves and strong, fresh spices can boost the immune system and fight inflammation. Real chai is a source of strength and energy and is a wise choice in flu season. The black tea in chai is rich in antioxidants while the spices used in chai date back thousands of years, when they were first used to promote health.
Ginger is an ingredient in Madura Chai Tea (recommended in the chai tea recipe below). Ginger can reduce soreness, block inflammation, reduce bloating and help defend the body to say nothing of its aromatic qualities.
Cardamom. Widely used in both China and India – in remedial preparations and as a cooking spice – cardamom is said to benefit the kidneys, lungs and heart.
Cloves are known for their pain-relieving and antiseptic abilities. Like ginger and pepper, cloves when blended increase the potency of the blend.
And cardamom, ginger, cinnamon and pepper when blended promote a healthier digestion.
